Melissa Levine is Chair of the Judgment Collection & Asset Recovery Group at Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C. Ms. Levine aggressively pursues justice for creditor clients, both in and out of the courts, through such methods as restraining and seizing debtors’ assets (often hidden in the names of others, including in the names of spouses and LLCs) through fraudulent conveyance actions, class actions, and other successful methods.
During her career, Ms. Levine has collectively recovered, mostly through forced settlements, millions of dollars in assets for clients, with such claims as life insurance claim denials, unpaid and underpaid wages, predatory lending claims, unpaid rent, sexual discrimination and abuse, subcontractor claims, defamation, contractor malfeasance, unpaid alimony/child support, and private investor claims.
Ms. Levine’s collection practice has resulted in a wide range of experience in diverse areas of practice, including Bankruptcy, Trusts and Estates, claim subrogation, asset protection, class actions, Article 3-A Lien Law claims, and real estate related issues, including mortgage foreclosures, landlord tenant litigation, and real estate contracts and closings. Ms. Levine was the head of collections practice at The Gold Law Firm, PC, where she was of counsel from 2004 to 2026. At Gold, she started in general practice handling contracts, closings, wage claims, insurance defense and collections, and then later concentrated in the area of collections. She regularly contributed a significant amount to that firm’s revenue. Before Gold she was an associate at Lester and Fontanetta, a boutique bankruptcy firm, where she started her career after law school. She diversified that firm by establishing a significant foreclosure practice at a time when there was a huge surge in foreclosures. She was able to leverage mortgage lending regulations to significantly change the outcome of foreclosures for her clients. Ms. Levine received her J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law, where she was President of the Environmental Law Society and an Associate Editor of the Hofstra Environmental Law Digest. She received her B.A. in Political Science from the Binghamton University (SUNY) and was inducted into Pi Sigma Alpha (The National Political Science Honor Society). Ms. Levine is admitted to practice in the New York State Courts, and the Federal Courts of the Southern District of New York, Eastern District of New York, and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
