Charles Wolfe McMellon practices landlord-tenant law. His legal expertise is focused on property related legal actions and proceedings in the NYC Civil Court, Housing Part, statutory compliance, and property management challenges. Before private practice, Charles was the Borough Enforcement Attorney for Brookyn and Staten Island for the NYC Department of buildings in charge of criminal summons, investigation, and enforcement. Previous to his time in government, he practiced ten years as inhouse counsel for a large NYC non-profit dedicated to providing housing and services for people with psychiatric disabilities. As inhouse counsel, he commenced and litigated hundreds of for-cause holdover and non-payment proceedings, including severe nuisance, complex rent stabilized apartment cases and HP Action defense. As with any client, Charles endeavors to find successful legal pathways and practical solutions to resolve ownership and operational challenges.
