“When I was offered the Summer Associateship, I was thrilled because I knew these were some of the best attorneys in New York who are experienced and seasoned in commercial real estate” – Nurie, Summer Associate
Hi, my name is Nurie, and I’m a summer associate here at Adam Leitman Bailey. I’m a rising third-year student at Hofstra Law. I loved being a summer associate here at ALB. It was such a great experience, and I had so many opportunities to work with different attorneys across various parts of the litigation department. I was able to go to court quite a few times and work on important cases, some of which will be in the appellate term in New York and in federal court.
When I received the offer for the summer associate position, I was thrilled. I knew these were some of the best attorneys in New York, experienced and seasoned in commercial real estate, and I was excited to learn as much as I could from them and apply those skills to my professional career. I think all the attorneys here are phenomenal. It’s hard to pick just one, but I’ll mention a few. Adam himself is extremely experienced. Every time I go to his office and sit in on his discussions—especially about strategy—I get so excited by how much he remembers. He knows every single case the firm handles.
Dove and Jeff focus a lot on writing, especially in appellate and federal matters, and they’re real experts in those areas. There’s also Jackie and Danny, who handle foreclosures, and Carolyn, Andrew, and Vlad, who are great with landlord-tenant issues. The reality is there are so many great attorneys here, it’s hard to choose just one to learn from.
This summer, I worked on an overwhelming amount of cases—probably 50 or 60 different ones. One of the cases was particularly interesting, involving a famous individual for whom I wrote a summons and complaint. There are also federal and appellate cases I worked on, which I can’t go into much detail about, but they were extremely fascinating and full of learning opportunities.
Adam is a great boss. He has an open-door policy, which is rare in law. He also has a “no jerk” policy that he adheres to, and I really appreciate that. Whenever you have a question, need advice, or just need someone to talk to, he’s always open to listening and providing guidance. One thing I love about this office is how friendly everyone is. They really care about your professional growth and your experience here. I’ve never had a bad experience with anyone—whether it’s attorneys, staff, or paralegals—everyone is just incredible. The open-door policy is really something everyone here practices.
I don’t regret a minute of my time here. If you’re constantly looking for work, reaching out to the attorneys, and making yourself available, your experience here will be fantastic. My advice to future associates would be: Reach out, try to learn as much as you can, and you’ll have an exceptional time. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who is open to learning and excited to become a great professional in their field.
