My name is Dove Treyman, and I am the Landlord-Tenant Managing Partner at Adam Lightman Bailey PC. I oversee our landlord-tenant department, which handles some of the most complex and significant cases in the field.
While we’ve had many courtroom victories, the best cases are the ones that never go to trial. We’ve won major victories that have shaped the law, like a case I worked on where a tenant was maintaining their apartment in horrendous condition. The tenant refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing, and the case established a crucial legal precedent in New York state. It set the principle that a tenant should not be given an opportunity to fix a problem when they refuse to recognize its existence.
Such precedents are vital not just for our clients, but for all the citizens of New York. We have established many such precedents, and I am proud to say that my partner, Jeffrey Meds, has created more precedents in real estate law in New York than any other attorney. This is a testament to the lasting impact we have on the legal landscape.

I’m especially proud of an experience I had with Adam when the New York State Legislature passed a deeply flawed law. Adam and I recognized how problematic it was, so we co-authored an article in the “New York Law Journal” that highlighted the law’s issues. In response to our article, the legislature changed the law. This is a perfect example of how our firm doesn’t just respond to issues—we lead the charge for change.
There are many brilliant lawyers in New York, but what truly sets us apart is Adam’s leadership. He has the unique ability to assemble a team that works together seamlessly, optimizing each person’s talents while supporting one another. Adam has built this team and this family, and it is this sense of unity that propels us to success.
He always emphasizes that our firm’s achievements are the result of the team, not just the individual. However, it is Adam who put that team together, and we all owe our success to his vision and leadership.
One of the things I’m most proud of at Adam Lightman Bailey PC is our internship program. We take law school students who are not yet in the top tier and offer them internships. These can lead to summer associate positions, which can eventually evolve into full associate positions. One of my partners started as an intern, and now he’s an integral part of the team. We have no glass ceiling here, and this policy reflects our commitment to growth and opportunity for everyone.
