“What it takes to be successful at Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C.”
Interviewer:
What do you like about working at Adam Lightman Bailey PC?
Associate:
I like working here because we have really, really good young lawyers and we have really, really good senior lawyers. Adam Lightman Bailey PC is a great place to work—it’s a fabulous place to learn and develop as a young attorney because you really do learn from the best. The partners here at the firm have years of experience across the board, especially in real estate. I can personally speak to how much they’ve taught me over the last four and a half years I’ve been at the firm.
Interviewer:
What’s the culture like at the firm?
Associate:
The firm culture is the biggest reason why I enjoy working here. It’s an open-door policy where the partners and colleagues at all levels are always welcoming and open to your input. This openness extends to firm business as well as how we handle our cases and serve our clients. We’ve worked hard to create, and I think we’ve achieved, a culture of excellence in our legal representation. We work very hard, and we work smart. We have long hours, but the firm provides all the tools and training you need to do an excellent job. We also have continuing education, both in-house and through CLEs provided by outside sources.
Interviewer:
What makes the work environment special?
Associate:
There’s also a culture of ruthless honesty here. We’re honest with ourselves, with our peers, and with our clients, and that helps us achieve our goal of giving excellent representation to everyone that comes through our doors. I think this level of honesty also fosters a collegial environment, which is crucial, especially for younger lawyers. You have people you can lean on, learn from, and grow with. The firm’s culture really does feel like a small family where ideas are always welcome, and the relationships between associates and partners are very collaborative. As associates, we work very closely with our partners, including Adam, which is key to our success.
Interviewer:
What does it take to be successful here?
Associate:
To work here, you have to be an incredibly hard worker and a team player. You need to be dedicated to making everyone you work with look good and, most importantly, making your clients happy. Customer service is key, and your hard work is mandatory. As a new attorney, it’s important to protect your reputation and maintain it at all costs. If you’re the kind of attorney who wants to be excellent and is willing to work hard to achieve that, I’d be happy and proud to work with you.
Interviewer:
What makes a career here rewarding?
Associate:
Part of having a rewarding career is being in an environment where you’re comfortable and happy. You spend about 80% of your work week in the office, so it’s important to have a culture where you feel like you’re growing and thriving. I can’t think of a more rewarding career. If you want to be a litigator in New York City or work in transactional or real estate law, this is probably one of the best places you can come to.
Interviewer:
How does the firm support career growth?
Associate:
The financial consideration certainly plays a role here—our compensation is competitive, and we’re ahead of most firms in terms of compensating associates. But beyond that, we have opportunities for growth, to learn, and to put what we’ve learned into practice. Working here is extremely rewarding. I work on all types of matters every day, which is intellectually stimulating. The work I do often requires new interpretations of the law, and I get to work directly with clients, coming up with solutions to their problems.
Interviewer:
What should someone do if they want to work at the firm?
Associate:
If you want to work here, give one of the partners a call, set up an interview, and come in to meet us. We’re always happy to interview people who meet the needs of our firm. If you’re prepared to work really hard and smart, we’d love to have you join us.
