Could you briefly explain the situation or problem that led you to seek legal help?
I am an owner of a building on the upper west side and I had a tenant, a rent controlled tenant, who was not using their premises as his primary residence. In fact, it was learned that he was living upstate on his 90 acres in the Catskills and using his $300.00 a month rent controlled apartment as a convenience and not a primary residence so I needed legal help to seek eviction.
How did you meet the firm?
I had one of the firm’s attorneys, Christopher Halligan, who had helped me with a property in Brooklyn in a different situation and he did good work and….so I followed Christopher to Adam Leitman Bailey.
What were your first impressions?
My first and lasting impression is that a law firm is only as good as its attorneys and…so the face of Adam Leitman Bailey for me was initially and remains to a large degree Christopher Halligan. I have gotten to know some of the other attorneys here at the firm and I am very impressed with all of them but Christopher is really the conduit for me. He is very resourceful, he thinks outside the box and he is extremely responsive and creative and so the impressions are quite high.
Overall, what did Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C. do for you?
Well, they won the case. They won a case actually this non-primary residence case that another law firm that I had originally retained advised me that I should drop the case after dancing in court for two years and collecting a substantial amount from me in retainer and they told me that there was no case here and that I should drop it and I consulted with Christopher Halligan and Adam Leitman Bailey and they had a different outlook on the case and had different thoughts on how to proceed…very ground pioneering type thoughts…very very different type thoughts like for example going for a jury trial as opposed to a bench trial which turned out to be a fantastic move and so we went full steam ahead and the result was a unanimous jury decision, jury verdict in my favor, so that is the top of the list on what the firm has done for me.
Could you go explain what you think the firm’s best qualities were in assisting to your needs?
Like I said the ability to look at a situation and think about it differently than the conventional line of thought, the resourcefulness and responsiveness. I am high on communication skills like you got to talk to me and let me know where I stand and no matter what the outcome and no matter what the forecast. I place a lot of value on that and this firm is as good as it gets as far as communicating with them and there is no more important characteristics in my mind.

I not only would recommend them but I have recommended them and I will continue to do so.
