My name is Samantha Horowitz, and I’m a paralegal at Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C. I’ve been with the firm for two years, and now I’m preparing to start the next chapter of my journey at Fordham University School of Law.
During my time at the firm, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to work on a wide variety of cases, collaborating with talented attorneys and gaining invaluable experience. I’ve been involved in all aspects of casework, from drafting initial documents and reviewing strategies to filing notices of entry for decisions. The breadth of responsibility I’ve been given has been truly rewarding. This role has allowed me to not only learn the intricacies of law but also understand the practice of law in a real-world setting.
I began as a paralegal in the Supreme Litigation Group, but my role quickly expanded to supporting the majority of the attorneys at the firm. I’ve worked on cases in both the Supreme Court and Civil Court and had the privilege of collaborating closely with Jeffrey Metz, the lead attorney of our Appellate Division. Jeffrey has been an exceptional mentor—patiently teaching me, encouraging me, and offering invaluable guidance. His support has been both professional and personal, and I’m immensely grateful for his mentorship as I take this next step toward becoming an attorney.
I’m also deeply appreciative of Adam’s leadership and support. Adam has consistently involved me in discussions about cases, seeking my opinion and valuing my input. His willingness to engage with and mentor junior staff is remarkable, and he has been instrumental in helping me build my confidence as I prepare for law school. Adam has created an environment where learning and growth are prioritized, and his commitment to both his clients and his team is unmatched.
When I first moved to New York, I didn’t have many connections, but this job introduced me to a supportive and inspiring group of colleagues who have become lifelong friends. They have made the city feel like home and have been a source of strength as I navigate my career journey. I’m thrilled to continue my education at Fordham, knowing I’ll still have this incredible support system in the city.
The experience I’ve gained at Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C. has been transformative. The firm has not only prepared me for law school but also for the professional world at large. The collaborative, friendly atmosphere here has set a high standard for what I hope to find in my future workplaces. I’ve learned how to navigate relationships, work effectively in a corporate setting, and balance professionalism with camaraderie.
When I started at the firm, I wasn’t sure if law school was the right path for me. These last two years have solidified my decision to pursue a legal career. The people I’ve met—talented, thoughtful, and tenacious—have inspired me every step of the way. While I’m sad to leave, I know I’m taking with me the skills, confidence, and friendships that will support me in the next stage of my career.
I owe so much gratitude to Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C. for the opportunities I’ve had and the personal and professional growth I’ve experienced. This firm has truly transformed my life, and I’m excited to see what the future holds as I carry these lessons forward.
