Summer Intern Works to Get Children’s Books to Underprivileged Children

Amaya: Hi, my name is Amaya Dina, and I am the summer intern at Adam Leitman Bailey PC. When I first started here, I learned about Adam’s new children’s book, Home. The story follows a young boy who struggles to accept his very small apartment as his home. He goes out to explore different types of homes—some on a farm, some in big mansions—and at the end of the book, he realizes that his home, where his family lives, is the one he appreciates most.

Through Home, Adam wants to inspire children to feel proud of where they come from. His goal is to reach underprivileged children who may also struggle to appreciate their homes.

This mission is made possible through Adam’s foundation, Building Foundations and Dreams. The foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides students with the tools they need to make their professional dreams come true. Proceeds from the book are being donated to underprivileged and low-income schools in New York City.

During my time here, I’ve been researching low-income schools in New York City and around the tri-state area. I’ve been looking into how the challenges these students face correlate with falling test scores. By donating Home to these schools, we hope to instill a sense of pride and self-worth in these students, which will help them gain the confidence necessary to perform well in school and on standardized tests.

It has been an honor to be involved in researching this issue and contributing to such a meaningful cause.
