“The perfect mix and balance of attorneys”
My name is Vladimir Mironenko, and I’m an associate attorney at Adam Lightman Bailey PC. I’ve been with the firm since 2008, starting as an intern during my second year of law school. After graduating, I continued working with the firm as a law clerk, and once I completed my studies, I was offered a full-time associate position, which I began in September of that year.
What I enjoy most about working here is the diversity of the work. As a real estate law firm, we focus exclusively on real estate, and New York City being the real estate capital of the world provides us with a wide range of cases. I work primarily in the landlord-tenant department and the Supreme Court litigation department, handling various aspects of real estate law.
A typical day can include everything from attending housing court in the morning, running to a Supreme Court oral argument, to taking a deposition in the afternoon and meeting with clients. The variety of work keeps things dynamic and exciting.
When I first joined Adam Lightman Bailey, what stood out to me was the people. While you could work for a solo practitioner where you would handle everything on your own without much support, or for a large firm where you’d be pigeonholed into a narrow role, Adam Lightman Bailey offers the perfect balance. Here, we have senior attorneys who are open to mentorship, guiding you through cases, while at the same time, from day one, you’re given opportunities to work directly with clients, attend court, and participate in conferences. It’s an ideal environment to learn and grow.
One of the most memorable cases for me involved representing a family-run manufacturing business in Brooklyn. They were one of the last manufacturing businesses in the area and faced a large real estate developer who had bought land around them. The developer blocked off their driveway, preventing the company from getting shipments in and out.
Other firms had examined the case and assumed the neighbor had the right to block the driveway, but after a detailed investigation, we uncovered an easement agreement from 100 years ago. This document gave our client a right-of-way over the driveway, ultimately saving their business. While this may not have been one of the firm’s largest cases, it was particularly rewarding because we were able to protect a family business from potentially going under.
One of the common complaints clients have about law firms is that their attorneys don’t keep them updated or responsive to emails and phone calls. At Adam Lightman Bailey, we have a 24-hour policy: all phone calls and emails are responded to within 24 hours. This commitment allows us to build strong relationships with our clients, keeping them informed every step of the way. Our clients know that we’re on their side, and that trust helps us achieve the best possible results for them.
