“I do believe here, we have a unique team and a great depth of experience”
David Smith:
My name is David Smith, and I’ve been with the firm for about three and a half years. I work in the Supreme Court litigation department as a trial lawyer. A lot of the cases I handle are related to mortgage fraud in some capacity. We represent major lenders, insurance companies, and sometimes property owners. Many of these cases involve allegations of fraud, and my role is to litigate those cases and, if necessary, take them to trial. These cases are heard in both state and federal court and cover a wide range of issues, including individuals trying to discharge a loan from a bank when the loan should be paid, often involving some form of fraud.
During the litigation process—sometimes even in the pre-litigation phase—we engage in investigations to uncover the facts.
What I enjoy most about working at the firm is that we’re small enough—about 23 lawyers—that we all help each other out and stay connected. If a department encounters an issue related to my expertise, they can come to me, and I can assist. It creates a brain trust where everyone is accessible and willing to collaborate. This benefits our clients immensely because, for example, if there’s a foreclosure issue, I can consult with our foreclosure experts, and vice versa. If they need a litigator or trial lawyer, they reach out to me. Everyone here is highly experienced in their respective fields, which allows us to address issues effectively and cost-efficiently.
The people here are not only accessible but also receptive to requests. If I need assistance with a case, I know I can count on my colleagues to be responsive. Additionally, everyone here is genuinely pleasant to work with and highly skilled, which makes coming to work every day enjoyable.
What sets our firm apart is the people. Adam is exceptionally good at selecting individuals who complement each other and contribute to providing the most value to our clients. Our firm has a unique team with a wide range of experience and backgrounds. For example, we have former military members like John, who’s a Marine, and Colin, also a military veteran. I myself come from a background that’s a bit different but unique in its own way. This diversity in experience makes us particularly effective as a team.
What also sets us apart is our focus. While there are many great law firms, we specialize in particular areas of law, which allows us to provide more value. Some firms spread themselves thin by handling many different fields, but we focus on what we do best. Additionally, our deep knowledge of judges and their decisions gives us an edge. When judges see our name in the courtroom, there’s an expectation of professionalism and effective representation. They know we’re acting in good faith and that our position is meritorious.
My best advice for candidates looking to join the firm is to do your research. If you’re prepared to work hard and take on challenging cases, sometimes involving issues of first impression, this is the place for you. We have a high standard because our clients deserve the best, and you’ll be expected to meet that standard every day. It’s going to be challenging, but it’s also very rewarding. If you’re up for it and you’ve looked into our work and our results, you’ll find that this is a place where you can truly thrive.
