“There is an opportunity to work with professionals of different levels of experience” – Layla, Paralegal
My name is Layla Noriega, and I work as a paralegal at Adam Leitman Bailey PC, primarily within the litigation department handling Supreme Court matters. I’ve been with the firm for about ten months now, and my role as a paralegal involves assisting attorneys throughout the entire litigation process. I also manage a variety of administrative tasks, compile motions and pleadings, draft correspondence, and assist with trial preparation.
Working at a small firm like Adam Leitman Bailey has given me the opportunity to take on a significant amount of responsibility, which has been both challenging and rewarding. The hands-on experience I’ve gained here has been one of my favorite aspects of the role.
My proudest accomplishment at the firm has been assisting attorneys in preparing for a federal case. This preparation included requesting certified copies from courts across the United States, compiling exhibits, preparing the pre-trial order for the jury, and supporting various aspects of trial prep. The level of responsibility I had in such a complex case was incredibly rewarding.
One of the things I value most about working here is the collaborative environment. As a small firm, we work closely with professionals at all levels of experience—whether attorneys, associates, or partners—and there’s no sense of hierarchy. Everyone is treated equally, which fosters a positive and supportive atmosphere. It’s a culture where we all learn from each other and work together to achieve the best results.
I joined the firm with the goal of one day attending law school, and my experience here has given me invaluable insight into the legal profession. I’ve learned that professionalism is not just about legal skills, but also about helping others succeed in their careers. It’s something I’ve witnessed from my colleagues, who are always willing to lend a hand and offer guidance.
This is my first full-time job right out of college, and I’ve gained so much hands-on experience that has prepared me for the next steps in my career. For any recent paralegal graduates looking for their first job, I highly recommend considering a smaller firm. It’s a place where you’re not just a name on a roster, but a valued team member. You’re able to ask questions, learn directly from experienced professionals, and contribute to meaningful work.
