“Everybody is so willing to help out in order to complete a matter in a way that would be most beneficial to the client” – Francyne, Legal Extern

Hi, my name is Francyne, and I’m a third-year law student at Syracuse University College of Law. I’m currently completing a fall externship in the transactional department at Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C.

My daily work in the transactional department varies depending on the closings and projects we have. A significant portion of my role involves reviewing lien searches, title reports, and trust agreements, as well as preparing and organizing closing documents for upcoming transactions. I also attend closings, which is a great hands-on experience. The work centers around ensuring that all backend procedures are completed efficiently so the files are ready for closing.

I worked closely with Rosemary, who is the head of the transactional department. Rosemary has been an incredible mentor—knowledgeable, supportive, and approachable. Her open-door policy allowed me to freely ask questions and gain clarity on concepts I was unfamiliar with. She always took the time to explain things thoroughly, making the learning process seamless and engaging.

Adam has also been a fantastic mentor. I’ve worked with him on research for an article I’m writing and even sat in on client phone calls. Like Rosemary, Adam maintains an open-door policy and is always willing to provide guidance. He’s extremely responsive, engaging, and passionate about teaching, which makes working with him a valuable experience.

The office culture at Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C., is warm and welcoming. Everyone is approachable, hardworking, and willing to help. Whether or not you work directly with an attorney, you can ask questions, and they are always willing to assist. The teamwork environment is particularly impressive—everyone collaborates to ensure that client matters are handled efficiently and effectively.

My advice for future externs is to keep an open mind and embrace every opportunity. Be willing to accept any assignments, stay engaged, and appreciate the hands-on nature of the experience. This externship is incredibly immersive, providing opportunities that many other externships might not. Take full advantage of the guidance and knowledge shared by the attorneys here—they are truly some of the best in the industry.

I’ve learned so much from Rosemary and my time in the transactional department, lessons that I’ll carry into my future career as an attorney. I would highly recommend an externship at Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C., especially for those interested in real estate law. The firm offers unparalleled opportunities to learn about real estate transactions and litigation from some of the most knowledgeable and experienced attorneys in the field.

Happy anniversary, Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C.!
