“You can loose sight of the main idea of why you are doing what your doing, that’s what I loved about working here. I think Adam Leitman Bailey is a great teacher, he’s extremely enthusiastic and that makes you more encouraged…”
Ashley Rocket – Legal Extern
My name is Ashley Rocket, I go to Cardozo, I am a 2L and I spent majority of the fall semester working here for multiple people at the firm and it was a good experience overall. Initially I was suppose to work in the transactional department but midway throughout the semester they hired me doing things for the litigation departments so I got to see the best of both worlds which was certainly beneficial. It also hasn’t been a consideration of mine before getting here and I am definitely more open to that based on the experience I got here.
There was no one in specific that I actually worked with, like I said initially, I thought I was supposed to primarily do transactional so I was working with Andrew Jorges a lot in the beginning and I did some work helping turn some projects. I also helped Christopher Halligan on some research as well, my focus was mainly research when I was here throughout the semester so I definitely honed my skills on that which is something I had been hoping to do.
I definitely grew in terms of tolerance and endurance, basically sitting on Westlaw was a challenge for me as I didn’t exactly know how to navigate it to the fullest extent and I feel like after being here and having to focus on that in a daily basis made me that much stronger in that department, I am extremely happy about that.
I liked working in a smaller environment here because you do have a lot more direct exposure to certain partners and with that you get to see every piece of a deal or a project so you feel a lot more included and you learn from that a lot more than you would do if you were to at a bigger firm. Where you only get to see snippets of things here and there on a daily basis, you don’t really get to diversify your skill set. That’s what I loved about this firm.
You can loose sight of the main idea of why you are doing what your doing, that’s what I loved about working here. I think Adam Leitman Bailey is a great teacher, he’s extremely enthusiastic and that makes you more encouraged where as people I have worked with in the past, the delivery wasn’t as encouraging as what I got from Adam, I felt like I learnt that much more because of that sort of relationship that I had. He was a great teacher and really wants you to benefit and learn as much as you possibly can.
