Testimonials

“An experience that you don’t always get.”

Lauren:
“My name is Lauren, I’m from Washington, and I go to George Washington University Law School.”

Interviewer:
“What are your career goals?”

Lauren:
“Right now, I hope to go into a law firm and do general litigation work.”

Interviewer:
“Did you get the experience you wanted out of this internship?”

Lauren:
“Absolutely.”

Interviewer:
“Can you tell us more about your role?”

Lauren:
“I was a litigation summer associate, so I helped out the litigation department with research and writing.”

Interviewer:
“What practice areas did you get exposed to?”

Lauren:
“I did a lot of work with condo and co-op litigation, as well as general litigation.”

Interviewer:
“How was your experience like?”

Lauren:
“It was really great. I did a lot of research and writing for the attorneys, especially when they were drafting memos or motions to be filed with the court. It was a really good experience learning how to draft a motion.”

Interviewer:
“How did you prepare for your tasks?”

Lauren:
“The attorneys were really great at giving good direction, and if I ever had any questions, I was always welcome to reach out and ask.”

Interviewer:
“Was there anything that you enjoyed most during your time here?”

Lauren:
“Absolutely. I really liked drafting motions. I was given the opportunity to write one on my own, and that was a fantastic experience.”

Interviewer:
“Did you work directly with Adam?”

Lauren:
“Yes, absolutely. He would always check in with us periodically, and we helped research articles that he was working on.”

Interviewer:
“Can you share your most memorable moment?”

Lauren:
“Definitely writing my own motion and getting to file it with the court. It was a great opportunity to research it from scratch and really get into the case law.”

Interviewer:
“What would you say is something you’ve learned from this internship?”

Lauren:
“My research skills have improved exponentially. I’ve learned how to really get into the case law and distinguish it from other cases. My ability to conduct detailed legal research has definitely improved.”

Interviewer:
“Was there anything you didn’t expect or didn’t hear about before the internship?”

Lauren:
“I got to attend court several times, which was really interesting. Whenever I had a research assignment that was going into a motion that was going to be filed or heard in court, I often got to actually attend the hearing. That’s an experience you don’t always get.”

Interviewer:
“Do you have any comments or advice for future interns?”

Lauren:
“Definitely apply! Be proactive and really take initiative. The experience will be very valuable for anyone looking to improve their skills in litigation.”

Interviewer:
“Thank you, Lauren. It sounds like you had a great experience.”
