A Conversation About: Air Conditioner Brackets

John Titone, President, asks:
I’d like to know if a state or city mandated law of New York requires that air conditioner brackets be applied to all external air conditioners even if the building is not Local Law 11/98 applicable. Our insurance company is requiring that, by November, all air conditioners protruding out of the windows, regardless of the date of installation, be secured with brackets, yet there are over 125 air conditioners that may have to be retrofitted. This will create an enormous hardship.
