Pete Reid Admitted To Society of Writers To Her Majesty’s Signet
Pete Reid has been admitted as an Associate Member to The Society of Writers to Her Majesty’s Signet in Scotland, the oldest legal society in the world. Originally, the Signet was the private seal of the early Scottish Kings, and the Writers to the Signet were those authorized to supervise its use and, later, to act as clerks to the Courts. The earliest recorded use of the Signet was in 1369, and Writers to the Signet were included as members of the College of Justice when it was established in 1532.
Pete was admitted by the Baron Mackay of Clashfern, Lord Clerk Register and Keeper of Her Majesty’s Signet in Scotland at a ceremony in Edinburgh in May 2009.
Today, as well as their involvement in notable charities, the Society promotes the highest standards in legal services and legal writing. As an Associate Member to the Society in New York, Pete Reid intends to maintain those high standards and focus on improving legal education for socially deprived young people.
