I wanted to thank you for the opportunity to extern at Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C. Upon enrolling in New York Law School’s Externship Program, I was unsure about what to expect during my time at your firm. However, my experience has been extremely rewarding.
At your firm, I learned invaluable lessons regarding New York City’s real estate market from Guy and Lauren. Working on numerous residential transactions taught me the entire real estate process; from contract negotiations to closings. However, perhaps the most important lesson I learned at your firm is that hard work and open communication with clients is vital. Observing lawyers in the office working diligently and communicating candidly with one another, as well as clients, only pushed myself to mimic their work routine.
Additionally, I worked on a few commercial lease agreements during my time at your firm and I observed how close real estate and corporate law can be. One of the initial and most important questions a company must answer is where to operate their business and whether they want to lease or buy real estate. Furthermore, the terms of a companies’ lease agreement can have huge implications in the way a company interacts with the landlord and operates their business with autonomy. It is after working on a few of these lease agreements that I realized that commercial real estate is an area of law that I may want to pursuit as my career.
