Adam Leitman Bailey Gives Tour of Wall Street to New Milford High School Students – 2016
Adam Leitman Bailey has always been very interested in history and chooses to share his wealth of historical knowledge with students of his alma mater New Milford High School (NMHS). This tradition is just one of the many ways that Mr. Bailey chooses to give back to his community. This walking tour of lower Manhattan has become a tradition for both Adam Leitman Bailey and the students of New Milford High School.
This year, the tour started in Battery Park, and then headed to the “Charging Bull”. Adam Leitman Bailey taught the students about the first terrorist attack on U.S. soil at the JP Morgan building, and took them to the stock exchange and showed them where its predecessor was. Mr. Bailey discussed the duel between Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr and the outcome, when they visited the defeated Alexander Hamilton’s grave. The students were intrigued by his knowledge and eager to learn from such a successful alum.
Adam Leitman Bailey also spoke to the students about the John Peter Zenger trial. Mr. Bailey explained that Zenger fighting for the truth has inspired him to do the same in his life. Mr. Bailey told students that he became an attorney to help people and defend the truth. The tour ended at the Federal Reserve where Adam Leitman Bailey shared his personal history of being in front of the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001.
Recipients of the Raymond “Hap” Harrison Scholarship who are also alumni from NMHS joined the conclusion of the tour to give the New Milford High School students some advice to take with them through their college years.
