“It is a good opportunity to learn and express your passion—I would definitely recommend this internship” – Asli, High School Intern

Asli: Hi, my name is Asli. I am a summer intern here at Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C., and I’m a rising senior at New Milford High School.

Interviewer: What kind of tasks did you work on during your internship?

Asli: My tasks really varied from day to day. Sometimes I had what I would consider bigger tasks, like cataloging files for attorneys. Other times, I worked on smaller tasks, like sending out emails. I really enjoyed helping the marketing team create social media posts, and I also liked assisting the paralegals with tasks like scanning documents.

Most days, I had what we called “the usual.” For example, Maria would email me with things like updating a contact and adding them to our newsletter list—that was a pretty consistent task throughout my day. When I was working on files, that was consistent too, but there were always smaller, varying tasks throughout the day that kept it interesting.

Interviewer: What was your favorite experience during your internship?

Asli: Honestly, my favorite experience was my first deposition. I got to go with Adam and Kayleen to the Attorney General’s office. It was such a good first experience—just sitting in those meetings and seeing everything unfold was really exciting.

Interviewer: How would you describe Adam Leitman Bailey as a boss?

Asli: Adam is incredibly admirable. He’s so dedicated to his work and passionately advocates for his clients. You can see how zealous he is about everything he does—he’s always 100% committed.

There was this one incident where he was determined to secure a court date because it was crucial for his client. For him, client satisfaction is the top priority, and I think that’s something really admirable.

He also has an open-door policy. He’s always willing to share what he’s working on or lessons from his career as a lawyer. Whenever I had questions, he was welcoming and willing to answer them.

Interviewer: Do you have any advice for future interns?

Asli: Definitely reach out to the lawyers. Ask if they have any work for you and take the time to get to know everyone. The people here are so wonderful and amazing, and forming those connections is something you’ll carry with you forever.

Even though my internship is ending, I feel like I was part of something bigger. It’s like the law firm is a big clock, and I’m just a small cog in the wheel, but I know I’ve made meaningful connections and contributed in my own way. Everyone here is so welcoming, and the positive vibes make it a great place to be.

Interviewer: What was your favorite task during the internship?

Asli: This might sound funny, but my favorite task was helping the paralegals scan documents. It’s not something you learn at school, so I had to figure it out on my own. It seems like such a simple thing, but I really enjoyed learning something so practical.

Interviewer: What’s the most important lesson you learned during this experience?

Asli: The most important lesson I learned is to put myself out there—explore new things, try new experiences, and make an effort to reach out to people. I realized that I shouldn’t feel excluded; instead, I should engage and connect.

Interviewer: Would you recommend this internship to others?

Asli: Absolutely. It’s a great opportunity to learn and express your passion in a supportive environment. I would definitely recommend it to anyone considering it.
