Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C. Scholarship Testimonial

To begin, can you please state your name?

My name is Merlyn Jacobs.

Could you tell me a little bit about yourself?

I’m 19 years old. I go to school at Rutgers in Newark. This is my second year as a bio major. Im originally from New Milford, New Jersey.

How do you know Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C.?

Well, I know Adam personally from the Milford High School because he came to an academic dinner awards ceremony in my senior year of high school, and I was told I was going to receive a scholarship, that most of the scholarships are it was between like five hundred to a thousand dollars. I didn’t even know how much I was receiving, and then Adam Bailey he said his story and he was saying that somebody in the audience was going to receive a scholarship going to Rutgers first year paid. I didn’t even know anything. He called my name out, and I was just so shocked and surprised. So, he has helped me ever since.

What’s the name of the scholarship?

The Raymond “Hap” Harrison scholarship.

What does his scholarship mean to you?

Well, it’s helped me out in a lot of ways. I can’t, I don’t know where to start. First, it was supposed to be originally for two years, and he graciously gave me another year. He’s helped me out with the scholarship and just in general. He’s just been a great help with just financially, especially. Rutgers is a state school, and even then, it’s difficult to pay for. He was just definitely that that’s just been a great help to me and my family in general so.

How would your life be different without the scholarship?

I actually recently spoke to him, and I was debating it was, like I said, it was supposed to be a two-year scholarship and he gave me a third year. But if it wasn’t for the third year, I was debating whether to even dorm or not. He was saying how dorming was a great experience. It’s something you know to be on their own, and it’s definitely different from living at home. He wanted me to do that for another year so he gave me another year.

So you’re going to live in the dorms again this year, not at home?

Yeah, I’m going to be living at the dorm again.

How else has Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C. helped you?

He’s actually helped me with a summer internship at Columbia University. and it was great because I got to meet other doctors and that’s the field that I want to, you know, medicine is the field that I want to go into. So I got to meet a lot of connection, get a lot of connections, so that. He actually, because of that, I’m able to go there again this summer and do another internship.

What exactly is your internships involved in doing at Columbia?

It’s a research internship on Alzheimer’s disease, so I was able to assist the other members there with file work and all that stuff, and I got to attend meetings with, where they discussed patients and, you know, and with diagnosis and all that great stuff. So, meeting all those doctors and getting to be affiliated with them, so it was just great.

Is there anything you’d like to add before we’re done?

He was just, he’s just been awesome because we’ve been contacting each other throughout the years, and he’s definitely helped me a lot. He’s given me great advice with schoolwork and just in general, just always been there and helped me any way, any way he could. I still remember the first year of my first year at Rutgers, my fall semester was my first time taking midterms in college, and he just, he emailed me with great advice. He just kept saying just focus on, focus on things, try to focus, you know, well in your studies. Don’t try to make anything up, other make your priorities straight, and, you know. Also just have fun. Don’t stress too much and this and then. He has just always been there to help me out all the time.
