A Challenging Work Environment with Many Unique and Interesting Assignments
To begin, can you please state your name?
Matt
Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?
I am 25 years old. I am a third year, currently as of this taping, a student at New York Law School. I am originally from Central New Jersey and I have been living in the city ever since I went to NYU as an undergrad.
What is your role here at Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C.?
Here at the firm, I have been a law student extern this past semester which is working us through the law school and many of my classmates and peers have previously extern at the firm for employment.
What was it like working here?
It was a very much invigorating and challenging work environment with many unique and interesting assignments and great work experience.
What was the time frame that you worked at Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C.?
The time frame… I came in to be interviewed for a position in December and I worked here from roughly January of 2009 to April.
How did you hear about the firm?
I heard about the firm through my faculty advisor at NY Law School. She had previously sent a number of other students to work here before me.
Did you get to work with Adam Leitman Bailey directly?
Yes. Well, I didn’t do many credits directly from Adam’s supervision, I often show him my work and get direct feedback from him as I worked on some other projects with other partners and associates.
What types of tasks did you performed while working here?
I focus mainly on litigation based experience which included such tasks as researching and preparing a summons and complaint, doing many research memos involving coop cases, working on preparing trial motions, discovery work as well as generally perhaps a lot of academic papers as well, researching them, writing drafts of them which will be either be finished by myself or worked by a future extern.
What is the one thing or experience that would stand out in your mind that you gained from working here?
I would say that the one experience would be preparing a summons and complaint because it was a very meaningful experience to begin work on a case to actually see to it that the beginning of the ground work was done that the index number was filed that the summons and complaint were served on the proper parties and I really did begin doing the legwork to begin this entrepreneur case.
What was the best aspect of working with Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C.?
I would say the people. Because it’s really the people that make up your work environment and will really make or break any given situation and here it’s being able to be get direct and honest and very meaningful and encouraging feedback from your superiors and peers and this is most helpful.
Any comments or suggestions that you would like to add?
