  1. During the financial crisis, instead of layoffs, we increased the number of attorneys we have on staff by 20 percent.
  2. The opportunity to make more money: all attorneys starting as first year associates participate in our firm-wide revenue sharing program where each attorney receives a third of their billed hours that the firm collects.

Summer Associate Program

The Best Externship/Internship Program in the Country

No law firm in New York has produced a better internship and externship program in the country and this is proven by the number of attorneys who started as part of this program, went on to earn full-time positions, and, years later, have become the leading attorneys in their areas of expertise. The Training

Our interns and externs become lawyers-in-training and are part of the legal team, learning on the case or deal. Being assigned to active cases and made part of the team has given students the ability to produce amazing results. Because Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C. practices only one type of law, all of our associates rapidly become experts. Our interns and externs never make coffee or copies. We have exciting cases that require hard work from the smartest and most aggressive, passionate, loyal, and committed students who are ready to change the world one real estate case at a time. Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C. has some of the most challenging and high profile cases in the nation, and staff expertise really does make a difference for the client and the community. Interns and externs will participate in a wide range of tasks that may include conducting case investigation, legal research, and discovery, meeting with clients and experts, and preparing memoranda, briefs, and other legal documents for administrative, judicial, and transactional proceedings.

Undergraduate Legal Internship

Undergraduate Legal Internship

The “AV” rated law firm was recognized by Chambers & Partners and Super Lawyers and was voted one of the Best Places to Work in NYC by Crain’s magazine. This office is now accepting applications for full- or part-time undergraduate law school interns for Summer 2017. The position is designed for current undergraduate students seeking a hands-on experience in the legal world.

Responsibilities: Undergraduate interns work under the direct supervision of attorneys and paralegals in the development and prosecution of real estate, commercial leasing, closing and representation of lenders. Interns will participate in a wide range of tasks that may include conducting legal research, and discovery, putting together motions, and assisting law clerks with traveling to court and handling files.

Compensation & Benefits

Superior Compensation

Besides superior compensation, our attorneys participate in a revenue sharing program, thereby permitting an unlimited means of compensation based on performance. Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C. includes an expansive benefits package including 401k, three-month paid maternity leave, 80 percent off gym membership to Equinox and a flexible, first-class working environment with built-in flexibility to accommodate our staff members’ needs and those of their families. In addition to monetary compensation, every other week the firm indulges in “Spa Fridays” where employees receive a complimentary manicure or massage in the office. The firm celebrates all meaningful events such as birthdays, engagements, big victories and when new attorneys pass the bar.

How Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C. Pays More

At Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C., although everyone receives a paycheck every pay period, we are the only law firm in New York City providing individualized revenue sharing. This program allows every attorney to have an opportunity to be among the highest paid attorneys in New York without depending on other lawyers in the firm. Our revenue sharing program is not based on bringing in business. In fact, when an attorney brings in business he or she receives 10 percent of what he or she brings in on top of the below compensation program, to as much as 20% for top performers. Here is how it works: Every attorney at any level within the firm receives one third of his/her billable time that has been collected.

For example:

Scenario 1: A $625 billing rate for senior attorneys x 2,500 billed hours per year equals $1,562,500. With a collection rate of 92% (the rate for 2015), the firm would collect $1,437,500 ($1,562,500 x .92) for the year. The attorney would earn one third of this amount, total compensation of $479,166.

Scenario 2: Assuming the same $625 billing rate x 2,000 billed hours per year equals total gross compensation of $1,250,000. With a collection rate of 92% (the rate for 2015), the firm would collect $1,150,000 ($1,250,000 x .92) for the year. The attorney would earn one third of this amount, total compensation of $383,333.

Scenario 3: At a $450 billing rate for junior attorneys x 2,000 billed hours per year equals $900,000. With a collection rate of 92% (the rate for 2015), the firm would collect $828,000 (900,000 x .92) for the year. The attorney would earn one third of this amount, total compensation of $276,000.

This is why our revenue sharing program results in our paying more to our attorneys than most other law firms in New York.
